PIPSO CEO Mereia Volavola is set to attend the LAUNCH Food Forum on 28 – 31 March 2017 in San Francisco, California.
LAUNCH is a network centered innovation platform founded on the belief that the challenges of today are too big to be solved by one organisation alone. Founded in 2009 by NASA, US agency for International Development (USAID), the US Department of State and Nike Inc, LAUNCH has tackled challenges in water, health, sustainable chemistry and more. The 2017 LAUNCH Food Forum will be the eleventh LAUNCH challenge.
Mereia is included in the LAUNCH Food Forum as a Council Member and Technical Expert. She was also part of the panel that made the final selections of the 12 LAUNCH Food Innovators. Amongst the Innovators of 2017, are renowned Pacific Chef Robert Oliver and Development and business facilitator and strategist, Elizabeth Powell. They are the brains behind Pacific Islands Food Revolution (PIFR) – a health education initiative tailored to Pacific Island based audience that includes multimedia and cross – sectoral wellness campaigns.
LAUNCH Food Forum will be the perfect platform to link the Innovators to Council members in hopes of support being offered by way of capacity, connectivity, creativity, credibility and capital.
The global innovation program received over 280 applications from 74 countries, of which the 12 were selected.
Mereia looks forward to meeting the minds behind the amazing ideas and designs put forward and hope to collaborate and offer support to the Innovators and is hopeful about tailoring some of the ideas to work in the Pacific.
